You will certainly notice the differences when comparing the game to EVE, as the space combat is much more interactive. As to tactical or science, well, you can take two characters, so you have the chance to test both out and to find your feet.

Welcome Frikken, good to see an old school Everquest player. I still have fond memories of Neriak and my dark elf priestess.
Engineers are always needed, with their ability to make items and static defences. You will find that there is a lot in the game that appeals to a sci-fi fan. Lots more to come, i hope, with the coming patches.

As to engineering, the ability to make shields, cannons and other objects in the game is very cool.

Ok ill start my application by introducing myself :)
Well my name is Rick and im 30 and live in the UK. I work onboard a Catamaran Vessel which means i spend alot of time on the high seas. Due to shifts i wont be around for 4 days or so depending on shifts during the Summer. At the moment though i have alot of time for development of my Officer. I've been looking around on the STO Forums looking for a home in Star Trek Online and i noticed this European Fleet which would be ideal for me. I've spent 5 Years playing WoW where i was an Officer of a 25 Man Raiding Guild. Before being Promoted to an Officer i was a Class Leader for a Year and then Stepped upto an Officer and ended up looking after 2 Classes. I've had a great time in WoW and even met up with some fellow players in real life to put some faces to the pixels :) Now Star Trek Online is here my time on WoW has come to an end and its time for me to find a new home on Star Trek Online and hopefully make new friends.

I'm a film/new media student. Just finished BFA in Film Production and will be applying for MFA program for the fall. Favorite captain would have to be Picard. /raiseearlgraytoast Love old series and characters, TNG Picard, Riker & Data and the brilliant new film. Spock always was the coolest character! New film actually beat out Star Wars as all time favorite movie. St. George forgive me... I have been cought by Star Trek since I first saw TNG and reruns of the Original series as a child/teenager. I have seen all series and movies more then one time and love it for being a "Thinking mans Sci-Fi". Ive tried other Star Trek games in the past but the MMO game type speaks to me. Being able to devlop your char over time and do this together with people that share my entusiams for Star Trek sounds great!
